Quetiapine: Treatment of schizophrenia; treatment of acute manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder (as monotherapy or in combination with Lithium or Divalproex); maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder (in combination with Lithium or Divalproex); treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder

Dosage and Administration:

The usual initial daily dose in schizophrenia is the equivalent of 50mg of the base on day one. The usual initial daily dose is increased on days two and three in increments of 50 to 150mg, as tolerated, to a target of 300 to 400mg daily by day four.

 

Side Effects:

Somnolence, headache, agitation, dizziness, extrapyramidal symptoms
