Therapeutic Indication:

Metformin: Metforbiox is indicated in patients with type 2 diabetes to control hyperglycemia

Dosage and Administration:

Initial dosage is 500 mg at breakfast for at least 1 week, then increasing to 500 mg twice daily for at least 1 week, with further increases as required, up to a usual maximum of 2 g daily in 3 divided doses with meals.

Side Effects:

Diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, flatulence, weakness, headache, Indigestion, abdominal discomfort, decreased vitamin B₁₂ levels.
